The very popular Jefferson Courtney Miller, who was inducted to Hartford's Cricket Hall of Fame on Saturday September 20, 2008, was elected un-opposed for a sixth term to serve as president of the South Florida Cricket Alliance (SFCA). The annual general elections meeting, was held at Corporate Park, in Lauderhill. Miller, who was first elected as president in 1998, lost to Patrick Samuels in 2004, but took back the reins in the 2006 elections, and has been at the helm ever since then. The following individuals were elected to serve on the Executive Board for 2009-10:

Jefferson Miller-President (sixth term), Melton Taylor-Vice President (first term)

Ken Sukhwa- Secretary (first term), Pranay Tigga- Treasurer ( first term) and McDonald Norville- Assistant Secretary/Treasurer ( first term). Two committee members are to be determined at a later date.

                             President excited about new board

Miller, a former lively USA fast bowler, while thanking the member clubs for giving him the opportunity to represent them for yet another year, told American Cricketer that, "the SFCA will continue to foster the development, promotion and expansion of cricket in South Florida." The effervescent SFCA president, then went on to say that, " we will continue to work closely with the County and City, to further the exposure of the sport by staging local, national and international tournaments, at the Central Broward Regional Park (CBRP)." Continuing, Jeff as he is familiarly known to friends said, " I am very excited about the newly elected members of the Executive Board, and I'm very keen to provide the leadership into the 2009-10 seasons. The new board will institute tournaments and programs that will assist the clubs in these difficult financial times. The Board will also seek to gain better playing facilities and expand its coporate sponsorship over next two years."

When asked how he thinks he will be able to handle all the promises made for 2009-10, with a new and in-experienced executive board? The president, who will be fifty this year said, "while the new board looks in-experienced on paper, as all of them will be in their respective capacities on the Executive Board for the first time, when you really look at, our vice-president Melton Taylor, is the president of International, secretary Ken Sukhwa is the president of Lauderhill Jammers, while McDonald Norville, who is the assistant secretary/treasurer, is the vice-president of Westside Cavaliers. So that all in all when you take another look at it, they won't be all that green." Jeff, all the best to you and your new board.
